Shelter Project

Peluma Cuba has recently teamed up with a motivated husband and wife team in Havana, Cuba. Natacha and Guillermo are wholeheartedly devoted to rescuing stray animals and conquering Cuba’s pet overpopulation problem. They spay/neuter, vaccinate, feed, and currently care for 21 dogs from their own very small salaries. Our goal is to help ease their burden by donating much needed items and funds to help their noble efforts and to improve the structure in which they house the rescued dogs.

The current structure in which the dogs live consists of crumbling walls with no roof or doors.

There is no electricity or running water. (The water comes from a pipe in the ground.) And it is good hike to get to the where the “shelter” is.

Natacha and Guillermo work VERY hard to care for and find good homes for the dogs. They are also currently in the process of getting clearance to use some of them as therapy dogs for children with disabilities and senior citizens. (Contrary to popular belief, these stray dogs are incredibly calm and sweet. They are perfect for this sort of endeavor.)

Natacha and Guillermo have saved these dogs from very painful deaths if caught by the dogcatcher. They work very hard everyday to care for them and give what little they have to save their lives.

Your donations will provide the following for these special dogs:

- food
- spay/neuter
- medical supplies
- vaccines/medicines
- building materials (roof, concrete, doors, shutters, electric, water)

Our hope is that Natacha and Guillermo’s efforts will catch on in neighboring towns and will inspire others to do the same.

Please donate today and spread the word by passing this on to 5 animal lovers!
