Foster
Fostering is providing a temporary home to an animal in need. It is a great opportunity for the animal to start preparing for his/her forever home. The animal will get one-on-one contact with humans, and can experience life outside of a shelter’s confines. This will increase the pet’s chances of being well-adjusted when going to his/her new home.
A foster parent provides a loving, comfortable, and stable environment for the pet, and in some cases, as place to re-cooperate after medical treatment, and/or the trauma of neglect, abandonment, or a tough life on the streets.
The foster parent provides all of the basic necessities (food, walks, litter, etc.), while Peluma takes care of medical expenses, unless otherwise donated by the foster parent. He/she will also take note of the pet’s energy level, any areas that need working on, and any of the animal’s special needs. This dedication and attention to detail helps Peluma and the foster parent to ensure that the pet’s new adoptive family is the perfect fit for him/her.
Fostering is a commitment. There is no time limit to fostering. A foster parent will foster for as long as it takes to find the right home for the animal. Some of these pets have been abandoned or neglected by humans. They do not need to be bounced around between foster parents. Please do not agree to foster if you are not ready for the loyalty that it requires.
